Happy Blocks - A and B

>> Sunday, August 11, 2013

These blocks make me smile!

An alphabet applique quilt that Deb is sharing on her blog - The Toothfairy Quilter
{my letters still need to be stitched - machine blanket stitching is done around shapes - new pics soon!}

These stars make me happy because they are from the second project I will finish from Quilt Sampler 1998!
{To see my first project from this issue click here}

Stars are in the quilt in top picture

The stars  work out to the same size as the letters {6 inches} so I decided to challenge myself to make them in fabric matching each letter. So far I'm making just from stash too:)

Another happy quilt just for me - and my FIRST alphabet quilt!

Piecing Glorious Autumn

>> Tuesday, September 11, 2012

It's time for WEEK 2 of the Glorious Autumn Block Party hosted by Michelle at the Quilting Gallery.

I guess I decided subconsciously to choose only from pieced blocks for this party, even though I really liked the blocks from last week!
Maybe it's because my block is pieced?

 I already have today's block from Vicki Welsh cut out! Check out Vicki's post to see some vintage Braced Star blocks.

I wanted to make the centre square yellow - there's a little bit in the prints, but I don't have the exact yellow. And using one of my different yellows just won't work here - too bright, too light, too much pattern.
I think I've decided which centre I'm going with.

Can you guess which one?

With Joy,
Sarah Vee
