Generous Quilters

>> Saturday, May 2, 2009

I have now won four giveaways since starting my blog! I still can't get over how generous quilters are - with giving away free stuff, be it tutorials, patterns, fabric or books. Thank you to everyone for sharing your gifts! Here's what I've received so far:

Maria Peagler's Color Mastery. I finally found sketchbooks at the dollar store too. I have been slow to work on putting together a color journal as she suggests, but do go back to her book to look at harmonies. Her quilt projects give good insights. She also has tutorials on the book's website and free downloads that I recommend.

The next thing I won was a t-shirt from Urban Amish. Here I am modelling it into the sun on a cold morning (photo by my daughter)

I got to pick the color and really love it. It's all cotton which I love too. Check out her blog Urban Amish and see her neat design ideas.

Then I won the book by Kay Mackenzie that I have already blogged about.
I really like this book. I have now spent some more time reading about the different methods of applique that Kay wrote about. She describes 'back basting' and I think I will try this next time I'm doing stems - she says it works:)

And my most recent win came all the way from Australia! Rose at Threadbare sent me two of her patterns. I'm very excited about both of them. Can you see why?

A Christmas pillow and a backpack - perfect!
I hope you enjoyed a look at my goodies! The generosity never ends. Here's wishing you luck on the next giveaway you enter.
