His and Hers Pillows

>> Sunday, April 26, 2015

My Primitive Gatherings 10 year Anniversary Stitch Along wall hanging became a pillow! I stopped at border 7 (I think?) and added a 2 inch border. I actually quilted the pillow front because of all the seams and wanting to be able to wash it. I'll have to get a better picture so you can see the rainbow star I echoed quilted.

It's a really BIG pillow! Here it is with my April Spring Joy pillow from Sadie Paisley's Pillow Patch Club.

I was inspired when I spied some Euro pillows on sale - they measure 26 inches square.

I also just recently placed and received my first order from an online Canadian fabric shop called Mad About Patchwork. Believe it or not, this was my first time buying some Far Far Away Fabric! And it is so perfect 'as is' that I decided to use it as the backing fabric for my pillow.

Lucky me, I also still have some perfect length zippers ( a pink one!) from the stash sale purchase from a few years ago.

Now. I'm not one to buy only 1 pillow at a time; my husband was using mine when reading in bed and tossing his on the floor. His excuse - it didn't have a cover.

So this is how I spent Saturday's sewing time: I made it using up the last of the guitar fabric I had in my stash. I literally measured the height of the strip of fabric and cut it into 4 equal squares. Then I cut up a pair of my husband's old corduroy pants that I rediscovered in one of my storage tubs lately.

The back of my husband's pillow is made from a fabric from Parson Gray's Shaman line - it's a beautiful blue!

A grey zipper this time.

Two very happy pillows for us to enjoy!

Thanks for sharing in my Sewing JOY today,

Sarah V

Stuck at Orange - Progress A Plenty

>> Monday, March 23, 2015

Hi, remember me?!

Yes, it was March Break last week and I did get to sew up quite a few things. But never did make time to blog about it!
My apologies.

It does seem that several of my projects are stuck at orange - they need orange fabric of some shade and size to get to the next step.(I guess not ALL of my projects just some I'm trying to move ahead!)

My orange fabrics are tied up in my Halloween 1904 which I'm happy to report I have completed sewing on all the black half square triangles. I plan to do a post about it by the weekend(?) that shows the final three blocks blanket stitched and bordered. (I use that 'plan' word loosely!) Let's just say I stitched one tonight and have the thread (and foot) ready for tomorrow night:)

This quilt is waiting for orange. The Primitive Gatherings 10th Anniversary Stitch Along.
I did complete this border of square in a square blocks which measure 2 inches (square) each! It's now too heavy to hang on my design wall . . .

The next border is a thin one which I want to be orange - although this picture makes it look like pink will do!

I'll be back really soon with another post. If I post once a day this week I should be caught up!

With Joy,

Sarah Vee
