Monday's List

>> Monday, January 18, 2010

My design wall is waiting for me this morning. I finished my nephew's Birthday placemat that was up last week. I'm finding string projects easy distractions:)

I have last week's string block completed. On the desk is my Birthday panel from last week. It's half quilted. That's a top priority so it's taking up prime space. Which is good because. . .

I am a little too excited that this mitten fits inside 5 inches square! A design that won't leave me alone is made up of several of these. Good thing my table is covered and I have this bin -

filled with my Lady of the Lake blocks that need to be sewn together in sets of four - staring me down. 20 sets of 4.

My week looks full!
Check out what the others are working on this week through the links at Judy's blog.

Three Takes Thursday

>> Thursday, December 10, 2009

This week I received my copy of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks that I won on their blog during the giveaway. I also won a second copy which I have already given away to my mother-in-law. She was as excited as a kid at Christmas! I was excited that my second copy finally arrived for me:)

See that funky stripe fabric in the picture? It's binding. It's already for me to use with this:

The quilt top that I'd won too! I thought it was going to be the fabrics to make the quilt top. Imagine my surprise when I unfolded this beautifully stitched bright retro funky top! I was thinking of completing it to use in a spring raffle, but I kind of like looking at it in my studio. We'll see. At least as a curtain it's already finished:)

Yesterday was a surprisingly productive quilting day for me. I finished putting together the remaining mitten ornaments for my husband's class. His class each made one and sounds like they missed me, but had fun anyway.

Another friendship bag! This one is for my daughter's teacher as the last day before Christmas break is her birthday. Christmas gift fit inside exactly - like we'd planned it! My daughter picked out the fabrics - and wants one just like it:) {link to the Friendship bag tutorial is in my sidebar}

I also completed my December Season of Grace stockings! Yes, started and finished in one day. Two stockings. I'm still in shock a bit myself. These were fun to make and made up of Christmas selvages (remember all the donated scraps? I kept all the selvages and still have a bit leftover).

If you click on the picture you can see the items better. One picture because I had to keep it THREE takes!

There's still time to enter my 100 post giveaway too. It's the post beneath this one. Good luck!

Monday SEW IN

>> Monday, December 7, 2009

Today I'm with my husband's grade 5 class making projects for their craft sale.

Potholders

Potholders

Potholders

And more Potholders! I put together the tops so that it will go more quickly. (I hope!)

I've made up one sample potholder and one sample mitten ornament. ALL of the fabric was donated scraps from my Local Quilt Shop - Cindy Bee's. It's truly amazing what you can do with scraps.

I also pre-cut all the mitten ornament pieces. Here are the 16 right mittens.

And the 16 left mittens. Thank goodness I did a sample in time to realize I need one of each per ornament!:)

We'll also be using some foam precut ornaments. Here are 2 snowmen my daughter decorated. We're using fabric scraps to make the vests. We're also doing trees - I just didn't take a picture of it yet:)

I'll let you know how it goes. We're hoping the donated sewing machines will be there - and I've scrambled together some pins and thread. I'm making pincushions today for each child.

We're taking our children with us too. All I'm thinking about is what I'm going to eat and will the 2 year old have a nap!! Wish me luck!

Enjoy your Monday. See what everyone else has UP through Judy's link.

TOMORROW IS MY 100TH POST! BE SURE TO COME BACK FOR MY GIVEAWAY:)
