Click on the coasters picture above to GO TO MY GIVEAWAY POST.

Soooo many comments from my giveaway have listed curtains as something they have made for their home. I don't even consider making curtains sewing! Well, not fun sewing anyway.

Here are a few other things mentioned so far.

Sewing machine cover.

I made mine to match in the living room/sewing space where I have a Klimt print on the wall.

I used the pdf tutorial over at Spool to make this one and another smaller version for one of my nieces.

Potholders.

I know there are potholder swaps going on in blogland. A fun way to play with a little bit of fabric and a design. This one is an example I made when I helped my husband's grade 5 class make potholders and mitten ornaments for a fundraiser at Christmas. All of our fabric was donated by the Local Quilt Shop - thanks Cindy Bee!

Friendship bag.

I love to make these. Sweet and simple. Great birthday gifts for little girls and older ones too! There is a tutorial by Rachel of p.s. i quilt. I have more cut out to make too.

Tote bags.

I really enjoy making bags. And modifying them. This is from the Spring 2009 issue of Quilts and More. I added a zipper to make it more useful. It was a present for my mom's birthday.

Denim purse.

Made for my daughter from a pair of her jeans. Great pockets! Fun project.

Can't have too many! A great way to use up fabric you can't/won't use anywhere else! The thin fabric ones fold up great into a purse so you always have a bag with you.

Okay.
So there are definitely more fun things to sew than curtains!

Make sure to visit the Quilt Festival that takes place across Blogland starting Friday. You can click on the button above to go to the details about how to participate. I still haven't decided what quilt I will show. It'll be a surprise!

GQ Prairie Moon and Jaybird

>> Thursday, November 5, 2009

No, it's not BUTTON PIZZA, it's even better!

It's the little jar of buttons I won on Prairie Moon's blog! I guessed the closest guess to the actual amount of buttons in the jar and Shelly sent them to me. She has a great website to explore too.

I really like them. Want a better look?
I am loving these colours! Some of them will find homes in projects really soon. Thanks, Shelly.

Julie at Jaybird Quilts is having a great 100th post giveaway full of Market goodies! I get an extra entry for blogging about it, but now YOU know:) Head over and enter yourself.

Enjoy a productive Thursday - even if all you 'produce' is some joy for winning giveaways!:)

TODAY is Tuesday! Time Tip and Links to Play With

>> Tuesday, November 3, 2009

I forgot TODAY was Tuesday! Sorry,! On with the show, I guess:)

Time Tip: Write it Down, Put it Up!

If you click on the photo you can see each sticky has the cutting amounts for one colour needed for the Halloween quilt I'm making next year. Since I can't resist, I leave these out all the time so when I have the chance I know where I'm at. What I've done. What's left to do.

I've started to do this for another current large project. It's helping keep the hundreds of triangles seem less daunting as I cross of 26 and write 37 out of 290! Little steps, remember!

Writing it down and posting it makes room in your brain for more important things - like picking your next project!!

Now, what I really wanted to blog about today was all the fun that is starting up in Quilt Blogging World! The festive season certainly has the quilters and crafters busy planning quick things to make! And finishing things up to start NEW stuff next year!

Here's two activities to take a look at:
Gudrun's World starts things off on the 9th. Each designer gives tips, techniques, or even a pattern. They have giveaways too! A fun way to check out what some designers are doing for the holidays.

I love the NAME of this challenge! And, yes, more prizes! This time you actually have to challenge yourself and declare publicly how many UFOS you want to finish before the new year. If you succeed, you double your entries for the prizes. Check out the details at Tallgrass Prairie Studios.

Sew, Mama, Sew has great links for projects and things to purchase for gift giving this season. Comment each day to have a chance to win each day's prize - mostly craft books!

You have to play to win! Have fun:)

Gratuitous Giveaway Plugs

>> Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Not much getting accomplished here. Still working on my secret birthday present!
Taking care of a toddler who is trying to convince me he doesn't need to nap today (I think I do, though!).
Instead of quilting I've had a chance to check out some blogs and discovered some giveaways in the process.

Heather Mulder Peterson of Anka's Treasures is celebrating her belated one year blogiversary. She's giving away this quilt! Plus two other prizes! Here is the link to her giveaway post in case you want a chance to win too.:)

The Fat Quarter Shop is having a giveaway featuring the fabric in this quilt. It's their new BOM Dutch Sampler. I love this idea in these colours. But I'm REALLY trying not to commit to anything for next year -yet. Maybe you are! Here are details about the Dutch Sampler BOM. (And the giveaway link:))

There, that should keep you busy tonight! Enjoy,

Sarah Vee
