Simple Stitches and a Finish

>> Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Third basket. Done. I used a few more decorative stitches this time.

{You can find closeups of the first 2 blocks in this post.}

Basket number four. One simple stitch on this one - the blanket stitch.

Which means. . . I'm finished!

More than Five 15s - and Counting!

>> Monday, April 9, 2012

 My first of four baskets quilted. This one alone took 45 minutes so I think my five 15s estimate was a bit low. But it did get me started in a finishing direction!

After 2 days of extremely bad joint pain, I was glad to sit down and quilt another basket today. This one looks like it has a ribbon around it. {You can click on the photo to enlarge it} I think I will be using a few more decorative machine stitches on my last 2 baskets.

Do you use the decorative stitches on your machine?

Five 15s

>> Thursday, April 5, 2012

My Easter tabletopper is ready and waiting. . . and waiting to be quilted.
I am home from work today and no excuses.

Just need to go and buy milk.
Write a cheque.
Mail the cheque.
Decide on Easter dinner.
Sweep kitchen floor.

Okay, okay, you get the idea! I can get THIS close to finishing and stop in my tracks.
My solution this time around?

Five 15s.

Five segments of 15 minutes at the machine.

I figure if I can trick my mind into five 15s, I just might keep going!

Wish me luck!

Tell me how do you get projects completed?
 Just in case my latest attempt fails

What's up on Monday

>> Monday, March 19, 2012

I really can't believe that after finally being happy with this basket block arrangement. . .

that I sewed the rows together *WRONG* and ended up with this

 and I think I even like it better!

What do you think?

I took some time on Saturday night and again Sunday to visit blog hop party blogs and get caught up {mostly} in my Google Reader.  So much fun!  I have been forgetting to have fun with quilting - so relieved I remembered and embraced it again.

In the process of all this relaxing and enjoying the flow, I ended up finally finding a happy home for some scrap half square triangles

*S*blocks! Made from leftover 4.5 unfinished half square triangles from this basket quilt. {circa 2009?}  The blocks were inspired by *Z* blocks I found in this blog post by Kathy of Material Obsession. I'm in awe of the medallion quilt too! I'm really excited to play with some more scrap hsts I found to see what letters I can make - maybe more *S*s!

Creative juices are flowing here again - just in time to go back to work {for a couple days}
