Cat Proofing my Sewing Space

>> Monday, May 6, 2013

My two new cats are keeping us busy catproofing.
Actually, they have been doing the proofing and we have been cleaning up the results!
My sewing space needed to be rearranged as the young cats love jumping on top of the bookcases and sliding along my cutting table.

Click here to see what my space looked like in its last incarnation.

Now the bookcases are along the wall and the tops are blocked off with boxes.

I do have to keep the counters covered to prevent being jumped on (I have a box that I put up on my cutting table when it's not in use)
I am keeping my ironing board folded away and only bringing it out when needed instead of having it up all of the time - one less surface to jump.
I'm also keeping my iron cord tucked inside instead of left hanging.

Proofing my space reminds me of when my son was young and I had turned my cutting table around to keep little hands out of the drawers. Now I keep my pins covered, mini scissors on a lanyard in a drawer, and always do an extra check of the space for anything that looks like a cat toy!

But the boys are worth it!

With Joy,
Sarah Vee
