Scenes from my New Quilting Space

>> Thursday, August 30, 2012

I am very happy with how much space I have to work on projects. All of these flat surfaces have been completely covered at least once since I've set up!

To the left of my work area I have enough wall space to display a quilt. Right now I have up my Bunny Lady quilt top. I love looking at it. Sure hope to quilt it one day!

Perhaps more importantly than all my new space is the giant design wall! I have a large flannel sheet up which extends almost the entire length of the wall directly behind my sewing machine. I do have another wall I can place a design wall on if I need to put something up for awhile to see how it looks.

Here you can see that "Bloom" is still nagging at me to get it finished. I am really enjoying the process of listening to this one.

After some play, this is how I progressed. The dark blue colour has already been chosen for the stems of these letters {although I must admit there is a strong tug to change my original design}. Instead I thought about using a colour that goes with blue for the border.

I have this tiny voice in my head that chants at me all the quilt ideas on my 'bucket list' of quilts and "blue leaves, yellow borders" rings loudly when I'm working out the design for Bloom.

Yellow borders it is!

My design wall has even more stuff on it right now. Time to take some more pictures, cut some more fabrics and keep quilting!

With Joy,
Sarah Vee

That looks like a great space to play!
