Lucky Charms Progress

>> Wednesday, September 22, 2010

I went to my local quilt store and picked out threads to match my applique on the Lucky Charms sew along top.
I'm trying really hard on this project to keep things matchy matchy!
If you click on the photo you can see that I didn't pick out green thread for my stems and leaves, but a shade of light brown.
No purple either - it's more a deep burgundy merlot.
The pink is more of a fuschia.
The trick is to pull out a single strand of thread and lay it on your applique.
The single thread is the actual amount of the colour you will use on your project.
I saw Pat Sloan do this and am really glad I did because NONE of the green threads were working for me!

I'm planning to do the applique when I quilt the three layers together.
This Friday Pat Sloan will post the next step.
This week I pieced together a 40 inch square backing.
The pink is from Granny's stash, the purple with pansies came from my sister.

With Joy,
Sarah Vee
