Monday's Results: From Chaos to Progress

>> Monday, February 22, 2010

My messy space Monday morning. Weekends have turned into non-quilting time. Something that frustrated me initially, but I am enjoying spending all that time with my family - or cleaning up other areas of the house! But this morning I really needed to clear off, clean up and get some stuff done.

Something Completely Different
My daughter has a skating competition this coming weekend. We bought this dress second hand. It was handmade. It looks great on her - but it's itchy. Those shiny dots are part of the material and wrap to the underside in the seam allowance.

I took the time to hand stitch some material around the arm holes and the back hole. It feels much better. Now we'll see if it stands up to the competition.

A String Finish For My Birthday

I finished my ironing board cover! I made it using stash strips. It was fun to construct.

I used this tutorial that I bookmarked months ago.

I've tried it out and the seams where the fabrics join don't really get in the way(I hadn't thought about that 'til this morning!). I only use this board for pressing and fusing, though. I wouldn't recommend the strips for a board you will be ironing large pieces on. But I probably didn't need to tell you that:)

Check out what other quilters are up to through the links at Judy's blog.

The iron board cover is awesome. Glad someone is getting something done. Only 1 week left of the Olympics and then hopefully I will get some more finishes.

Beautiful ironing board cover. I saw one over on Moda Bake Shop a few days ago made with jelly rolls. I like your much better made from scraps. It should be fun dreaming over the projects previously made while ironing.
