What's Red, Green and White All Over?

>> Wednesday, August 19, 2009

A Christmas post. Well, kind of. I'm starting to get into, use up and play with some Christmas fabrics. Example #1:

Seven star blocks to make a Seven Sisters star block. These were pieced by my husband's grandmother. I have a few more stars and I've made one from some of the same diamonds that she had already cut. I still have to decide on what I will use as setting diamonds (where the white is now).

Example #2: A Dutchman's Puzzle block. I JUST made this from a sampler block kit that I bought from a quilt store sale for $2.50 many years ago now. I love the medium print in this. I used the non-traditional method of adding the background as corner squares to make the flying geese. I found my points matched up perfectly. It could be that I also now PRESS while working on triangle blocks - which makes a world of difference in ease of construction and finished product.

I PLAN to make some more blocks in Christmas fabrics too. I'll keep you posted. Promise.

Enjoy Sewing in the last few weeks of summer,
Sarah Vee
