Massey Fair 2010 - Quilt Edition

>> Thursday, September 9, 2010

This was the 1st place pumpkin at the Massey Fair this year.

Our local guild had a great display of quilts.

A closeup of a mini quilt. I really like the trees.

The quilts are more 'hung up' then displayed. Here's one made with men's ties.

There was much more knitting than quilts out this year. This one was a category winner - I believe for applique.

Another winner. Too bad it wasn't hanging so you {and I} could enjoy the full pattern.

This string quilt was another winner - I believe for a tied quilt. Can you see those little red stickers? That's for 1st place! Not sure it will even make it home!

The 1st place wall art quilt (blue) - not on the wall! On the left the category is 'other quilted'.

I enjoyed the fair this year, but the grounds had been re-arranged to focus on the midway so that when you walk in you start spending money!

It was a little disconcerting to see people not being respectful of the farm animals there to be judged. Poking and scaring the hens, scaring the cows with ice cream cones, just general ignorance when it comes to being around animals. It was sad for me as I have strong memories of visiting my Great Grandma's farm. Seeing the dairy cows, finding the kittens and walking slowly into the stables waiting for those giant horse heads to peak over looking for carrots from the visitors.

At least there still IS a fair!
My favourite memory this year - my 3 year old son wanting to RIDE A COW!

Visit Sandi at A Legacy of Stitches - her {different} fair photos are great!

With Joy,
Sarah Vee
