QUILTsocial week - Halloween Double T pieced tablerunner

 

It was my turn again at QUILTsocial and this time, I was thinking Halloween poolside!

Even the blue matches! I was thinking about the Double T block for 'trick or treating' and decided to enlarge it for a table runner. I came across a fabric placement where the center reminded me of wrapped candies.

Of course the treat for me is creating and sewing with the PFAFF performance icon! My posts at QUILTsocial go through some of my favourite features of this machine. I am becoming more confident at free-motion quilting thanks to this machine too!

I used leftover fabric for the blocks and needed to figure out how to make the square in a square blocks using what I had. In the end I used 2 different techniques to make mine - check out the post and see if you like these techniques.

I love piecing on the performace icon because I don't need to use pins! The IDT system and the Needle Up/Down feature keep the fabric layers together as they go under the needle. I start pinning after my seams are 12" long or so.

Easy piecing a Double T runner with precision

Quilting this runner was fun! Something that's changing for me is feeling confident to use the machine and my ideas to add design elements to my piecing with the quilting. I played up the idea of wrapped candy in the centers of the Double T blocks while also trying to emphasize the Ts with the quilting stitches. Go see how I did!
