A Butterfly String Birthday Present

>> Tuesday, June 1, 2010

Happy Birthday to my niece in Michigan. I hope she likes it!

This was an extra project I had fun with in May.
It also counts as one more String Finish.

I had the idea to angle the strings to somewhat like a butterfly. I had enough of all these fabrics to play this way. The black border strings I sewed straight to give the placemat a border. Then I found some of my husband's granny's old double fold bias binding and used it - mostly because it was red! The yellow rick rack is from my mom's stash - leftover from when my dad was a clown at Halloween many many years ago. The fun sparkly purple rick rack my sister sent to me last year.

With Joy,
Sarah Vee
