Design Wall Monday: Selvages

>> Monday, April 19, 2010

My design wall is empty this week. I'm working on using some selvages for a placemat. This photo shows some cut and laying on foundations.

These are the other selvages from my most recent projects. I'm hoping to have enough here to make another placemat.

There's always this bin of selvages to look in. I've been saving them since finding out about the Selvage Blog. Not sure I'll ever have enough to make something quilt size, but it's fun to keep them for smaller projects.

This is my string block for last week. So far I've kept up with one block a week. I cut some more background foundations and have a few strips for next week's block already.

Check out the other design wall's through Judy's link at Patchwork Times.

Sarah Vee

I have been saving them but haven't made anything yet...still playing with ideas in my mind!

I have been saving my too! I see some selvages for fabrics I have. How wide do you usually cut your selvages?

I save all my selvages for a quilting friend of mine. I have forbidden myself to keep any, because I don't need yet another passion! But looking at your string block, and some others I've seen lately, sure makes me want to set in on a string quilt to use up some scraps! Ack! And I love your Lady of the Lakes quilt. Would love to see an entire pic of it sometime!

I love selvages and have made many things from them. Have fun with yours.
