It's the end of the 2020 Monthly Color Challenge and I have a quilt top!

2020 Monthly Color Challenge December Patterns by Jen

This month's color was red and, due to the size of my fabric pieces, I reversed my dark and light reds.

The linkup at Jen's blog is still open this weekend to give you a chance to win one of the amazing prizes she gathered for this quilt along.

Jen has also supplied a setting for the blocks which is fantastic! Go see! Challenge Layout

I used stash for my fabrics and didn't have enough of most to make a go of her setting so I decided to try out my Summer Sampler setting pattern instead.

2020 Monthly Color Challenge Summer Sampler Setting

It made for a really big quilt! I like how picking the neutral colors for the setting makes the colors pop but also ties them together.

You can find the Summer Sampler Setting pattern in my online shop.

Happy to have a quilt top finish already in 2021!

Jen is doing it all again this year with a theme of veggies to inspire her color choices. January's block is already available so you can start today :)

With Joy,

I've enjoyed looking at your monthly blocks and realized that this is totally doable every month, so I've signed up for the 2021 blocks. Jen's setting for the 2020 blocks is fantastic, but I really love your setting as well! I donate a fair number of quilts for kids in hospital and foster care, and I think that your setting would make a great quilt for an older teen - a group that doesn't seem to get as many quilts...

Thank you Jannette! So glad you signed up for Jen's 2021 blocks. I enjoyed making these blocks throughout the year. And yes! I was thinking of donation quilts when I designed this setting. It easily makes a big quilt with a collection of blocks that may not share fabrics so don't necessarily create a quilt on their own. I have almost 12 scrap basket blocks that I think would work in this setting too. Have a great year quilting!

This is an awesome setting! I love the variety of "looks" you can with it, depending on how you arrange them. (Can you tell that I've purchased the pattern? lol) This has been fun and I'm already enjoying the 2021 challenge.

What a clever idea for the setting of the blocks! Really pretty quilt finish!
